Are you torn between Nepal and Tibet? Then this will the perfect itinerary for you. We will not only be visiting some major sights in Tibet but also Everest Base Camp and Shigatse where you can witness the breathtaking scenery of Yamdrok Lake. And last but not least, you will end this trip in Kathmandu, Nepal.


Everest Base Camp actually have two base camps, each on opposite sides of Mount Everest:

  • South Base Camp is in Nepal at an altitude of 5,364 meters

  • North Base Camp is in Tibet at 5,150 meters

We will go to the North (Tibet side) Base Camp. Note that on top of your China visa (for foreigners) a special permit is required to visit Tibet; we will take care of this permit for you.  

Don’t worry, we take care of all the paperwork for the Tibet permit!

Take Plane or Train to Lhasa


Upon arrival, we will be picked up at the airport or railway station and escort us to our hotel in Lhasa (flight pick up times are 10H30 and 15H00).


The rest of the day is for us to take a good rest and adapt ourselves to the high altitude of Lhasa


If you feel like going out, then you can walk to the Potala Square and get amazing photos of the Potala Palace and its surrounding.


Stay overnight in Lhasa (3* hotel).

Day 1- Arrive in Lhasa (3600m)

Visit Potala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama. We will have the chance to see the stupas Tombs of past Dalai Lamas.


Visit Jokhang temple which was founded in the 7th Century to promote the Buddhist Religion. Inside we can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni (most venerated object in Tibet Buddhism). Walk around Barkhor Street where we can kora (circling the Barkor Street) with the locals and watch pilgrims making prostration.


We can taste Tibetan tea in local tea house and then go for dinner. Stay overnight in Lhasa (hotel).

Day 2- Visit Lhasa (3600m)

We will visit Drepung monastery which is one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet. You can visit the biggest monastery kitchen inside the monastery and enjoy Buddhist Sculpture Carving workshop near Drepung.


In the Afternoon, we will visit Sera Monastery which is another one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet. One of the popular attraction is the Monks debating at around 3 - 5pm in the afternoon.


Stay overnight in Lhasa.

Day 3- Visit Lhasa, Drepung & Sera monastery (3600m)

In the morning, drive from Lhasa to Shigatse. On the way, drive over the Gampala pass (4790m), and stop to have a glimpse of Yamdrok lake (4400m). In the distance, you can have a spectacular view of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar, (7191m) and later on of the Korola Glacier.


You will then arrive in Gyantse and visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum and enjoy the view of Gyangtse Fortress. After one and a half driving, you will arrive in Shigatse, which is the second largest city in Tibet.


Stay overnight in Shigatse (hotel).

Day 4- Lhasa to Shigatse via Gyantse 360 km(B)

In the morning, you will visit Tashilunpo Monastery.Then, you will leave Shigatse and drive to Lhatse, a small town where you can have lunch. After lunch, you will be passing Tsola Pass (4600m) and Gyatsola Pass (5248m), and reach Mt. Everest National Nature Reserve.


Once at Everest Base Camp (5150m), if time and weather allows, you will waiting and see the amazing sunset at Everest Peak.


Stay overnight (tent house or Rongbuk monastery guesthouse).

Day 5- Shigatse (3900m) to Everest Base Camp (5150m) *340km

In the morning, you can appreciate the sunrise of Everest Peak if weather permits at the lodging area and then visit the Rongbuk Monastery - the unique highest monastery with nuns and monks living together. Later, we can visit the Everest Base Camp and take pictures of Mt. Everest.


After that, you will drive to Kyirong border. On the way, you can admire the breathtaking view of Mt. Shishapangma and the Pekutso Lake. After passing the Ghungtang Lhamo (5236m), we will arrive in Kyirong in the late afternoon.


Stay overnight in Kyirong (hotel).

Day 6- EBC (5150m) to Kyirong

Today, your tour guide will assist you to exit China via Gyirong border.


After you go through the customs* and enter Nepal, our staff on Nepal's side will transfer you to Kathmandu (downtown). Estimate time of arrival in Kathmandu is ~18/19h.

*Nepal visa fees (~50$) not included. Visa can be done on-site.

Day 7- Kyirong (2600m) to Kathmandu (1350m) *160 km

Included in the price:

  • Travel permit and all other necessary permits to Tibet

  • Entrance ticket fees for all tourist sites listed in the itinerary

  • Meals: 

    • 1 Welcome Dinner (Day 2)

    • 5 breakfasts (Day 2, 3, 4, 5, 7)

 Pick up and drop off:

- The free airport pick-up time is as follows on the day the itinerary begins (From the Airport to Hotel, Fixed departure): 10:00 am; 13:30 pm; 17:00 pm

- The free airport drop-off time is as follows on the day the itinerary closes (From Hotel to the Airport, Fixed departure): 06:30 am; 08:00 am; 12:00 pm

* If these times are not convenient and you don't want to wait, you may take a taxi or public transportation at your own cost.

- All the shuttle service from/to the train station on the date of tourists' arrival and departure would be free.


Cancellation policy:

30 days or more before departure: 20% of the tour price

Between 29 and 15 days prior to departure: 30% of the tour price

Between 14 and 7 days prior to departure: 40% of the tour price

Between 6 and 3 days prior to departure: 50% of the tour price + cancellation fees charged by hotels if applicable.

All cancellations made within 3 days of departure or No Show Up: 100% of the tour price


All forms of outdoor recreation (including hiking) have a higher level of risk than most ordinary activities.
